The following proverb – “Given that I am the captive of a Mughal, I will have to eat together with him” – contains all the history you can possibly need, when it comes to Hindus who were tricked by Muslims into eating cow beef. This proverb was born out of a very specific ritual conducted during the Mughal period, where Brahmin royal employers would be forced to either eat or smell beef in order to ease their conversion into Islam. Muslims who used to conduct such rituals were referred to as ‘Pirali Muslim’. Maulana Akram Khara was one such Pirali Muslim. Bharotchondro, a poet from the middle ages, managed to reflect the mind-set of the then Mughal rulers, by writing a couple of lines about them on his book ‘Onnodamongol’, “I always get the urge to attain Sunnat for as many Hindus I can find, and also make them read the Kalimas.”

The poem was written during a period when Emperor Jahangir was in power and his chief of army Man Singh was waging war against Pratap Aditya on behalf of him. It is evident that such wild and reckless methods to make ‘Muslims’ has survived the test of time and have continued to be in effect till today!

Mischievously feeding beef to an unsuspecting Hindu is perhaps one of the more high level practical jokes Muslims tend to commit. Once the fun is over the Muslim would act wise and tell you – what you think you will die if you eat cow beef? Did you know consuming cow beef is not prohibited in your religion? I have seen so many Hindus secretly visiting restaurants to eat beef biryani…etc etc.

Apart from such mischief, Muslims also indulge themselves in hurting the religious sentimentality of others! Which is why they themselves cannot bear it if their religious sentimentality is attacked. Forget consuming pork, if someone even tells them to do it, it might lead to a riot.

Having tricked someone into consuming beef, these individuals themselves look for ‘halal’ shops, so that they do accidentally consume pork meat or fat! They are the followers of the greatest religion after all! I wrote once before that Hindus are not prohibited from consuming cow beef. Ram himself can be found consuming beef in the Balmiki Ramayana. Forget that, at this day and age it is simply not acceptable that a person will wrinkle his nose at the sight of what someone else is eating (particularly when everyone else is having the same thing). That does not mean that I am asking Hindus to do the Samba dance, just because BUET students from Hindu communities were targeted and made to eat cow beef. I am protesting the dirty communalism and the hostility that was generated from it, during this incident
